One note about Thursday Night NFL Football before I display my pick for tonight's college game: Thursday Night Football sucks. That being said, just one game tonight. Nothing to write home about. Unless you like writing home about San Jose State or Navy football games. But you can do that on your own time. All picks made on the NY Post Line. Home team in all CAPS. NCAA FBS SAN JOSE STATE -2 over Navy Last Day's NCAA FBS Record: 2-1 NCAA FBS Record for 2013: 14-13 Last Day's All Picks Record: 11-8 All Picks Record for 2013: 182-143-3 By Trevor Utley
Appointment cancellations give birth to more picks! Three games on the FBS docket tonight but only one featuring a team from the Top 25. UCF is fresh off a stunning comeback win against a bad Temple team and I think they'll take their frustrations out on poor Rutgers tonight at home. The other marquee game is from the NFL, an NFC South confrontation between the New Orleans Saints and the Atlanta Falcons. I am taking the over on this one as the combination of New Orleans' high powered offense and a beleaguered Falcons' D who gave up 41 to Tampa last week may have this one hit by the end of the third quarter. All picks made on the NY Post Line. Home team in all CAPS. NFL New Orleans/ATLANTA OVER 53 NCAA FBS CENTRAL FLORIDA -17.5 over Rutgers UAB +18 Rice AIR FORCE -1 Nevada-Las Vegas Last Day's NFL Record: 0-1 NFL Record for 2013: 19-20-2 Last Day's NCAA FBS Record: 1-1 NCAA FBS Record for 2013: 12-12 Last Day's All Picks Record: 13-8-1 All Picks Record for 2013: 171-135-3 By Trevor Utley
Finally. THE MAC HAS COME BACK TO TUESDAYS!!! I know, they were here last week but I couldn't help myself. League punching bag Miami of Ohio is back in action. The team that decimated the RedHawks last week, Kent State, is also in action. Both are underdogs. I am not taking either unsurprisingly as they are going against the upper echelon of the conference. All picks made on the NY Post Line. Home team in all CAPS. Buffalo -24 over MIAMI (OH) PICK OF THE DAY! Miami stinks. They may be the worst team in college football. Buffalo will have this number covered by halftime. I am just sad that I didn't get to make some money of the RedHawks this year. OHIO -5 over Kent State The Bobcats need this game to secure bowl eligibility and with their last two games against the Flashes and UMASS they will. Kent State's three wins are against the above mentioned Miami (OH), the bottom of the other division Western Michigan, and FCS team Liberty. Ohio has a cakewalk to a postseason berth and they'll help me out in the process. Last Day's NCAA FBS Record: 1-4 NCAA FBS Record for 2013: 11-11 Last Day's All Picks Record: 8-4 All Picks Record for 2013: 158-127-2 By Trevor Utley
Use my picks. Or don't. I don't care. Quote the Raven. Nevermore. Yes I just watched every rant from WCW Thunder on PS1 on Youtube. This is what an 11-16 day does to me. All picks made on the NY Post Line. Home team in all CAPS. FLORIDA STATE -37.5 over Syracuse OREGON -26.5 over Utah Pick Of The Day! Alabama -24 over MISSISSIPPI STATE PITTSBURGH PICK over North Carolina SOUTH FLORIDA +1.5 over Memphis Last Day's NCAA FBS Record: 1-0 NCAA FBS Record for 2013: 10-7 Last Day's All Picks Record: 11-16 All Picks Record for 2013: 119-97-1 By Trevor Utley
Just one game and it is a Pac-12 affair between the 13th ranked UCLA Bruins and the Washington Huskies. Tonight is a showcase for two players on the Bruins projected in the top ten of next May's draft, LB Anthony Barr and QB Brett Hundley. Though those two will surely terrorize the Huskies on both sides of the ball, UW will get theirs too with their talented offensive trio of QB Keith Price, HB Bishop Sankey, and TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins. I like Washington but the line is just too small for me not to take the home favorite here; especially with UCLA still vying for a birth in the Pac-12 title game. All picks made on the NY Post Line. Home team in all CAPS. UCLA -2.5 Washington Last Day's NCAA FBS Record: 2-0 NCAA FBS Record for 2013: 9-7 Last Day's All Picks Record: 8-7 All Picks Record for 2013: 108-81-1 By Trevor Utley
Last Thursday saw my first foray into the belly of the loathsome beast known as Thursday Night Football. To me Thursday Night Football is to the NFL schedule as Batman and Robin was to the first quartet of modern Batman movies. It is the Die Hard 2: Die Harder. It is the Rocky V. The Spiderman 3. You get the point. Regardless of my feelings towards the NFL's midweek showcase, I have made an over/under pick on the game. I'll be watching intently as my Colts look to rebound from a trouncing against a team that just lost to the fucking Jaguars. If they lose this one I may not make picks tomorrow while I recover from the fiercest hangover of all time. But hey, I went 2-0 with college football last night! The MAC was no longer wack as Jordan Lynch's Northern Illinois BCS chances leapt and Miami of Ohio continued to be woefully inept. I really have to stop with the rhyming. There are another two games tonight, one in the ACC and the other in Conference USA. I have two double digit lines to contend with. I went with both home teams, though one is a heavy favorite and the other a heavy underdog. All picks made on the NY Post Line. Home team in all CAPS. NFL Indianapolis/Tennessee OVER 42.5 Pick Of The Day! NCAA FBS CLEMSON -11 over Georgia Tech TULSA +13.5 Marshall Last Day's NFL Record: 0-0-1 NFL Record for 2013: 11-14-1 Last Day's NCAA FBS Record: 2-0 NCAA FBS Record for 2013: 7-7 Last Day's All Picks Record: 12-8 All Picks Record for 2013: 100-74-1 By Trevor Utley
Well...that wasn't how I saw my Pick of the Day career starting for football. It seemed that the MAC was even less kind to me than the major conferences. Ohio would have needed 50 points against Bowling Green, not the measly 10 I had been given. There is a return of the MAC (No K for you Mark Morrison fans) tonight. The top of the conference and bottom are represented: Jordan Lynch and potential BCS buster #15 Northern Illinois against 9-1 Ball State and 2-8 Kent State against winless Miami of Ohio. Hopefully the MAC doesn't lie to me once again. I'm back up in the game, running things to keep my swing. Now I have to erase "Return of the Mack lyrics" from my search history and punch myself in the face. To the picks! All picks made on the NY Post Line. Home team in all CAPS. NORTHERN ILLINOIS -7 over Ball State Pick Of The Day! KENT STATE -17.5 over Miami (OH) Last Day's NCAA FBS Record: 1-1 NCAA FBS Record for 2013: 5-7 Last Day's All Picks Record: 13-9 All Picks Record for 2013: 88-66-1 By Trevor Utley
There are only two games on the college football schedule today. Lucky for me I only need two games to .500 after a miserable Saturday. Hopefully the MAC is nicer to me than the SEC was. All picks made on the NY Post Line. Home team in all CAPS. Ohio +10 BOWLING GREEN Pick Of The Day! TOLEDO -3.5 over Buffalo Last Day's NCAA FBS Record: 1-4 NCAA FBS Record for 2013: 4-6 Last Day's All Picks Record: 10-2-1 All Picks Record for 2013: 75-57-1 |
